More Fabric Flowers

I’ve been meaning to post the little hair flowers I made to coordinate with the appliqué fleur de lis t-shirts I made a couple weeks ago.

IMG_0356

These were so fun to make with fabric and felt scraps!  And of course I had to accent them with some glitter fleur de lis!

IMG_0364IMG_0365

For this one, I just wound the fabric around into a rosette like I did the first ones I made:

For the next three, I cut graduated circles out of fabric and felt using my pinking shears:

I layered in some tulle on this one.

I ran out of the fleur de lis, so I used a fun button for the center of this one:

These were so fun and easy, anyone can do them!

Curly Ribbon Wreath Love

IMG_0279I’ve received a ton of comments on my version of the curly ribbon wreath, (click here for the original post).IMG_0398I’ve even found a few people who have shared their own curly ribbon wreath creations with me. I thought it would be fun to show them to y’all.

Cyndi from Loftee Ideas made her fun multi-colored version by cutting 9 inch lengths of curling ribbon, curling them and tying them around the base (which she covered in wide silk ribbon rather than painting it).

I love all those colors!  This will be perfect on her door all the way through summer.

MrsSstrug posted her version on The Nest. She used the same technique of curling her own ribbon and tying it on, except she used all one color.  She then hot-glued plastic eggs, bunnies, and the “Happy Easter” wording (cut using a Cricut) to more pieces of ribbon, which she then tied to the wreath.

How bright and cheery is that?! I love that she’ll be able to change out the decorations for other seasons. She said she might do little rain boots for the rest of April and the little flowers for May.

Another reader of mine, Jenny from Mommy of 2, Soulmate of 1, made a darling pastel curly ribbon wreath for Easter. I love the soft colors and the bunny silhouette tied on!  One of her readers sent her a photo of the wreath she made for her son’s Elmo-themed birthday party:What a great idea to include the birthday party invitation as an accent on the wreath!  My mom suggested that these wreaths would make cute centerpieces around cake stands for a party, I love that idea, too!

Here’s one more that was just emailed to me from Jen at Warrior Princess: ribbon-wreath

She added white ribbon, which really makes it pop, and what a cute little personalized birdie!

Thanks so much to everyone who let me know about their great creations, they all turned out beautifully!  This was such an awesome project, I’m calling it my “BEST DIY PROJECT OF THE MONTH” and sharing this post with Traci’s party over at Beneath My Heart.

If you have been inspired to make anything using one of my tutorials, shoot me an email (embellishedbayou@comcast.net) and I’ll feature you on my blog!

Stay tuned for an AWESOME new tutorial later this week when I guest post over at Tatertots & Jello!

P.S. Also sharing with Kimba for DIY Day!

Easter Linky Party

easterbutton Party day is here! If you have any Easter or spring crafts, decor, vignettes, wreaths, etc. please link up below and share with everyone.  I’ve already posted my glitter eggs craft, door decor ideas, and how to create a fabulous designer spring wreath,  so I’m going to share my Easter decorations today.  I didn’t decorated for Easter at all last year, so it was fun to pull out everything this year.  Oh, and you may notice an over-abundance of bunnies and glitter eggs, just overlook my addiction, please!

Here’s my little arrangement on the kitchen island:

Gotta have a basket full of chocolate!

I just love these new colorful mercury glass eggs my mom got for me:

It seems like all my decorations this year are tabletop displays.  Here’s the kitchen and dining room tables:

IMG_0381IMG_0438IMG_0439

I used the same dollar store felt egg that my mom used as a wreath, except I used mine as a placemat.  I may have to go back and get the tulip for after Easter.

This crystal basket was my grandmother’s.

Living room decorations….the bunny on the coffee table is so cute, I’ve had it for about 10 years at least.  IMG_0443IMG_0444IMG_0420

I got four of these beaded egg topiaries at Pier One several years ago….actually I think my mom got them for me.

IMG_0423 IMG_0421IMG_0428My mom painted the dark purple paper mache bunnies for me a few years ago.  The lavender bunny is a ceramic one I painted when I was a little girl.IMG_0429Ok, so I’m going to try this new linky that some people are using.  It allows you to put a little picture of  your post.  Please link to your post and not just your blog, and be sure to grab a button to spread the news!
