Are You Ready For Some Football??

Finally, it’s time to see those Tigers and Saints play!  Football season is my reward for suffering through the long, hot, sticky, Louisiana summer.  Although, it will still feel like summer for the first few games!

Get ready for football season with my new Etsy items!  Even though my Etsy shop is “On Vacation” until next Wednesday, I can still respond to emails and messages on my Facebook page, so if you see anything you like, don’t hesitate to contact me.IMG_1660 IMG_1661

What I’m Working On Wednesday: Welcome!

Thanks to some sunshine and warmer temperatures this past weekend, I was able to get back to some spray painting.IMG_0291

I haven’t had any Welcome signs in my Etsy shop in a while, so it was time to re-stock!  IMG_0292IMG_0296I did these in a more rustic, shabby chic style.

IMG_0305 I was able to use some of my fun ribbon stash to accent them. IMG_0298IMG_0300

The perfect addition to your door during that lag time between winter and spring!

I also worked on a custom order for someone wanting a personalized Irish-themed sign for a housewarming gift, I thought it turned out pretty cute!

IMG_0282I’ve also been busy finishing up some tu-tu onesies to take to a local boutique and embellishing and embroidering some t-shirts. What have you been working on lately?

Antique Ceiling Tile Tins DIY

DIY Day @ ASPTL

I finished a new batch of painted antique ceiling tile tin signs last week and wanted to share them for Kimba’s DIY party over at A Soft Place to Land and Transformation Thursday over at The Shabby Chic Cottage. Here’s how they start out:

And after a few coats of spray paint and some embellishing, here’s how they end up:

Each one is adorned with Swarovski crystals:

I think they turned out so cute and would be precious in a nursery or little girl’s room! I’m trying them out at a local boutique as well as in my Etsy store to see if they sell.

Trying to Get Creative with my Displays...

My friend Candace of Chicky Girls Hair Bows invited me to showcase my crafts with her at a recent play-date meetup of her Mom's group. I jumped at the chance, thinking it would be a good way to get some local exposure and hopefully a few sales. It also gave me the opportunity to design some sort of display for all my products. My mom had an old bi-fold shutter door lying around, so I had my hubby cut it in half to make a display for my tins. I spray painted it and painted "Embellished Bayou" across the top of one. Here's how the door looked before:

I had a 6 foot table and a card table to work with. In the future I think I will need at least one more table so everything doesn't look so cluttered. Here's how the displays turned out:

I'll also need a table cloth for the card table, more risers (I just used a couple boxes this time) and a cute holder for my business cards.

Overall, I think it turned out nice. And I got a couple orders for the larger frames....which I can't take credit for since they were my best friend's design! I thought I would have a little more interest in the painted tins, but no takers so far! A couple moms who are expecting said they may order one of the triple tins for their nursery, so hopefully I'll get more orders in the future. If business picks up, I am considering doing a local craft show this fall, so this was a good "trial run". If anyone has any craft show tips, feel free to post them in the comments!

More tins....

I've finished a couple more handpainted antique tins. I had another custom order for a personalized tin and I also made a new one to sell in my Etsy shop. Here they are:

The blue one is for a baby shower gift. The mommy-to-be will have a very unique personalized gift for her new son! A friend of mine gave me the idea for the brown one, I think it would work well hanging either on a front door or a wall in your home.

Also, today is Etsy Day! Basically, sellers on Etsy have united to try to spread the word about http://www.etsy.com/ through a one day marketing blitz. If you haven't visited http://www.etsy.com/, be sure and check it out today and don't forget to stop by my shop too!

TGIF: A rainy weekend ahead...

This week has really flown by, and I've only gotten a little bit of crafting done. I just finished a special order tin that turned out really cute. The lady's name was Happy, and that got me thinking of some new phrases to write on the tins. Luckily I got several tins prepped and painted yesterday so I'll have plenty of time to create during the rainy days ahead. I'll be sure and post pics when I'm done.

For now, I'll leave you with a few website recommendations. If you're looking for a craft to do this weekend, these sites are great sources of inspiration:
