Metamorphosis Monday: Drab to Shab

Finally, some sunshine around these parts! The rain has been keeping me from doing any outdoor projects and I finally got the chance to finish one up this weekend. I was itching to re-do a piece of furniture, and the only candidate I currently own was this little side table in the dining room:

The top had seen better days, and it was in need of refinishing or paint.

IMG_2710I decided to paint and distress this little table to match the other two shabby pieces in the room.

So first we painted the table using our handy pneumatic paint gun.  It was our first time using it, so things got a little messy, but we eventually figured it out!

I think I’ll still do a little more distressing in a few spots but overall I think I’m liking the new look.  This little re-do satisfies my craving for change for now!  What do you think?

I’ll be joining up with Susan and Gina for the usual linky parties, as well as a couple others.

  5. I really want one of those paint guns. I think it would make life so much easier, particularly since I need to paint two deminlune cabinets and a game table. You really have been busy with distressing, and they look professionally done.

    Happy Met Monday...

  7. Gorgeous work! Don't you just love using a spray gun? The finish is so much better and it's so much faster. Great makeover.

  11. Great new look! I love all the distressing you have done to this piece! I found 2 tables similar to this but they have the added shelf that is a bit smaller then bottom round. Can't wait to get them painted!

  18. Looks great! It's hard to know where to start and where to stop on the sanding isn't it?! I really need to sand more on the distressed table I did.

I have a linky party and a plea for help at my place, care to stop by:http://theshadesofpink.blogspot.com/2009/10/room-month-bedroom-conundrum.html

  19. I think I am liking it , but I think I would have liked the distressed part to be a little lighter....I am not sure--I am used to distressing from kiddies! They can do a job on stuff.
