Vintage Glamour at the Oscars

I'll admit I only watch the Oscars to see what everyone's wearing....and this year I thought there was a lot of vintage influence in some of the beautiful dresses. My best-dressed award goes to Penelope Cruz, who I thought looked stunning in a vintage dress that was 40 years old.

Vintage love

Ever since I got the idea to make my first frame, I've been loving searching for the perfect vintage pieces to embellish them. My first find was at a local estate sale, and that still seems to be where I get the best prices. I've also found a lot of pieces on Ebay, and find myself constantly searching there for more! I've checked out some local antique dealers as well, but their prices are usually a little too high to keep my frames cost-effective. Once the weather warms up my mom & I are going to head out to the flea market to see what I can uncover there!

My favorite things to use are vintage rhinestone brooches. Earrings also work well if they are large enough. I have recently discovered buttons, and again, if they are large enough they look stunning also. I've posted pics of a few things I've got my eye on.

Well, I have officially entered blogland! It's not like anyone will be reading this blog, but I'm going to use it as a place to promote my crafts and Etsy store. I made some new frames over the weekend, and just put them on my new Etsy store, http://www.embellishedbayou.etsy.com. We'll see what happens!
