Two lovely ladies, both my team members on Handmade Louisiana, have generously offered one of their black and gold products to one lucky winner!
Celeste from Metry Chick was born and bred in Metairie, LA (a suburb of New Orleans) and has been artistic her whole life.  She started making her etched glassware by hand when she needed Christmas gifts for friends one year.  It’s hard to believe she does all her etching by hand!  Her business has expanded to include glass pendants by happy accident.  Much of her work is inspired by New Orleans icons and culture.  Visit her Etsy shop for great gift ideas with a New Orleans flair, including many fleur de lis and Saints items!

Lady Fleur Designs is an apparel and stationery line by graphic designer and New Orleans-native, Cristina Triana.  Many of her designs feature a fleur de lis, the original inspiration for her brand.  She says, "The idea for Lady Fleur Designs sprung from my roots as a New Orleans girl, and the beauty and hope the fleur de lis has come to represent for our great city, especially in the past four years [since Hurrican Katrina]. As a graphic designer with a love for apparel and stationery, I wanted to develop a line that encompassed both of these things."   She strives to provide unique, high quality items at a reasonable price.

This past year, Cristina added a few baby items to her line, like the Reversible Saturday/Sunday bib, and they have been well received. In addition, she also offers freelance design services to small business owners like herself, in hopes of bringing them uniquely tailored design solutions at an affordable price, as well as custom stationery, invitation & announcement designs. Blog Anniversary Week: Giveaway Central!

It’s time for another party here at Embellished Bayou, and this one is complete with prizes for YOU!  My one year blog anniversary is coming up on February 6, so to celebrate, I am hosting fabulous GIVEAWAYS all week long!! Be sure and visit every day for your chance to win some really cool stuff!

When I started this blog a year ago, it was really as a support for my Etsy shop, but it has developed into so much more.  I never dreamed I would be posting nearly every (week)day and have close to 300 followers.  I have discovered a whole new world and have gone into crafting and decorating overload!

This week I’ll be doing two posts per day.  One to look back at some of my earliest posts and highlight some of my favorite projects from the past and one hosting a GIVEAWAY!  So let’s get started….

Last April I did a quick post featuring a chandelier I transformed for my best friend’s little girl.  This is still one of my favorite projects I have done.  You see these fancy chandeliers all over boutiques and online, often for hundreds of dollars.  I used her old dining room chandelier and transformed it from this:

to this:

All it took was a can of spray paint and some new crystals (in addition to the existing ones that I cleaned) to have this chandy dripping with pink girly-ness!  How cute is it over her little drawing table?? chandelierafter2 chandelierafter3Now, CLICK HERE for a SUPER giveaway!  Also, please visit these parties I’ll be linking up to:

Mardi Gras Week: Decor, Part Two

pggfleurdilis

Okay, are you ready for part two of Mardi Gras Decor?  Check out the previous post for my decor, I’m featuring my mom’s decorations in this post.

Her Mardi Gras tree puts mine to shame:IMG_0230IMG_0211

She replaced all her Christmas ornaments with sparkly purple, green, and gold Mardi Gras ones:

I absolutely love her Mardi Gras mantel: IMG_0190IMG_0192 IMG_0209IMG_0193

Lots of sparkle and glitter here, of course! I lettered the large green ball for her last year using a paint pen and glitter.

These jeweled crowns are actually napkin rings!

And finally, her purple tinsel tree by the back door:

Mardi Gras Week: Decor, Part One

pggfleurdilisWell, the party is winding down here at Embellished Bayou, but it is just getting started down in New Orleans and all across the gulf coast! Thank you for joining me for Mardi Gras Week, it has been so much fun.  Be sure and check out the previous posts:

And today I’ll show you my Mardi Gras decor!

I always have a little seasonal centerpiece on our island, and I had so much fun making a new one for Mardi Gras this year.  I used one of the gold sequined cone trees from Christmas and copied an idea I saw in a local store.  They had fun picks coming out of the top like a fireworks explosion. Here’s my version:

Go big or go home! Spread the glitter wealth:

IMG_3980I just cut the tip off the top of the tree and shoved the picks in.  I used one bunch of purple shiny disks.  I ended up taking the pick apart so I could use the individual strands:

IMG_3878IMG_3880  I also used this wired pick of purple, green and gold sequined disks.  I like it because I can bend it in to a curly-q shape:

Finally, I shoved in some foil sprays I found in my stash:

I love it! A Mardi Gras explosion!

The candlescape on the coffee table:

I just had to keep this candle embellishment I made for myself instead of putting it in my Etsy shop!

And my Mardi Gras tree, topped with the leftover picks from the gold sequin cone tree:

I strung on some fancy beads like garland:

Every Mardi Gras tree needs a sparkly gold fleur de lis:

IMG_3969

You know my motto concerning decorating for Mardi Gras:  the more glitter, the better!

IMG_3970

I even decorated the chandelier for the first time ever:  IMG_3973

All of these garlands and ornaments were after-Christmas clearance bargains. I decorated the purple balls myself with a paint pen and glitter.

The large wire fleur de lis was in the center of my Christmas garland and stays displayed in our entertainment center when it’s not holiday time.

Finally, one last centerpiece on the kitchen table.  I wrapped a feather mask around a glittered (gasp!) candle and surrounded it with doubloons on a fun Mardi Gras pewter tray my friend gave me.  The purple beaded charger came from Target after Christmas on clearance:

This is just part one of Mardi Gras decor! I’ll share my mom’s decorations in another post later today.  Wouldn’t want anyone going into glitter-overload! So come back, you don’t want to miss it!
